Historically, gun sights used to be some version of lining up a front and rear sight to hit your target. Later, rifle scopes were added to provide accuracy at longer distances. Both took longer to acquire the target and shoot. Red-dot optics were designed to improve CQB target acquisition times on the battlefield out to two hundred yards when fractions of a second matter between being alive or being dead.
Initially, the dots were red, but thanks to technology, greens dots are available and popular. The favored 2 MOA dot reticle represents a 2” dot on the target at 100 yds. At two hundred yards it doubles to a 4” dot on the target. Put the dot on center mass and squeeze the trigger. You can see why a dot on mid-target is faster than trying to focus a crosshair reticle during battle.

Why does my optics reticle look like a starburst?
Using the highest brightness setting can cause the reticle to appear like a starburst. Brightness settings should match the conditions. Use the brightest setting according to the lighting condition.
My M21 glass is tilted back, is it broken?
No, it’s not broken. Many optics have their objective lens tilted back so the light emission can be directed at the perfect angle to the shooter’s eye.
I can’t see the reticle, why?
Make sure your optic is pointed in the correct orientation. Is the battery installed correctly and is it fresh? Make sure your power setting is not on night-vision mode. Make sure nothing is between the emitter and the glass.
